Knife Project

Knife Project

This project involved me creating a new pocket knife design made for daily everyday use.

Using a combination of prior background knowledge and new research into EDC pocket knives I created a morphological matrix to organize the potential project categories.

From there I began selecting various options from within the options to create three distinct paths for me to ideate on. I created a plethora of brainstorming sketch’s to capture these ideas.

After reviewing my concept sketches I further condensed and refined these into nine refined concept sketches to give a higher quality and better representation of what the actual product could be.

At this point a final direction was chose based on peer review and feedback on the strongest concepts. Combining multiple elements from the concepts resulted in the best concept. The concept was then moved into the CAD stage and I began to develop individual parts and assembly’s. Which then quickly moved into the final project renders.

I also created a very simple to scale representation of the knife in a physical prototype to ensure that the knife was the correct size and was comfortable and usable.
