Reel Finds is a fictional used video store located in Carbondale, IL. They are doing a complete rebranding and opening an online ordering system to try and bring in new customers to the store. With the growing distaste and disgust of the state of streaming many people are looking for alternatives and Reel Finds is poised to bring these people into the Reel Family.
Reel Finds needed a new logo design that could clearly communicate what kind of business they were. Ideating on this process through sketching helped to create a more cohesive idea of what the Reel Finds brand was and how they would represent themselves. Reel Finds required a wordmark, but figuring out a symbol or other addition to the logo was where the hard part started.

After ideation the logo was brought into the digital space and tweaked, revised, and altered until landing on the final logo for Reel Finds. The logo has a full color variation, a black on white variation, and a white on black variation so it can be used on a plethora of mediums and use cases.

Once Reel Finds had a proper logo they required new ad concepts that they could use not only around town to lure in customers, but also online to bring in the kind of client that is searching for an alternative streaming website, not realizing there’s a cheap, cost effective solution just a few streets down. Reel Finds wanted to find either one or multiple slogans that could draw customers in. The requirements were that it be fun and memorable while not alienating or confusing customers.

Once slogan ideation had finished it was decided that Reel Finds would require four (4) ads that would consist of a physical billboard, a poster, and digital banner ad, and a digital square ad. Ideating on the layouts of these ads and how they would work required more sketching.

One of the things Reel Finds wanted to emphasize was that the were a local business that had never changed location and was easy to find. The Billboard ad serves as a reminder to local customers of their local history while appealing to new customers who are fed up with the woes of streaming licensing.

One of the biggest genres of movies for sale at Reel Finds is the horror genre. Reel Finds was hoping to appeal to horror fans while emphasizing that these movies could be had for cheap.

For the digital marketspace, one of Reel Finds biggest needs to to emphasize the physicality of their product and that it was not digital. One way to do this was with the common imagery of a Blu-ray case.

For their last digital advertisment, Reel Finds wanted to create a simple and engaging digital ad would highlight the terrible aspects of the digital space and make customers draw their own conclusions about the benefits of physical media.

Ordering a billboard is a lofty and pricy endeavor, so before they fully commited, Reel Finds wanted to be able to see what their ad could potentially look like in real life, and not just on a screen. A digital mockup was used to show this.

Posters lead a rough life, and Reel Finds was adamant that their poster needed to look good even at the end of a rough life. Being able to ensure this was paramount to Reel Finds.

Digital Ads can be a tricky space, and making sure that your ads pop up on a website people actually use can be a Reel ordeal, so making sure your digital ads are ready to go in a variety of spaces is a must.
